Our flagship August event. Hundreds of Miami-Dade Title I students walk through fitting stations and leave with full uniforms, supply-stocked backpacks, and a new book for day one.

$75 is what it takes to fully outfit one Miami-Dade Title I student — uniform, undergarments, and a new book. Federal Title I funds the academics. Families and PRFS donors fund what makes a kid feel ready to walk through the door.
Ten years on, our Miami-Dade program totals tell the story better than we can. Every number is a kid.
Federal Title I funds keep the lights on and pay teachers. It does not pay for the uniform that lets a 7-year-old walk into class without standing out — or the backpack, the books, or the holiday they almost didn't get. We fund what the system leaves out.

Julyett Gullen started Project Ready for School in 2015 with a Miami-Dade Title I student list and a question: why do we expect a kid to focus on reading when she's wearing the wrong uniform and her shoes don't fit?
Title I is the federal program that sends money to schools where at least 40% of students come from low-income families. The money goes to academics. It doesn't go to uniforms, shoes, underwear, books, or backpacks — the things that decide whether a kid feels ready to walk into class.
We close that gap. A decade in, we've outfitted over two thousand students, distributed thousands of books, and built a corporate network that shows up every August and December.
Every uniform, every backpack, every book is funded by partners who write checks, ship product, and send their teams to volunteer. If your company wants to be on this list, email Julyett.
